The Grunt Padre in Vietnam will be provided, along with Mission Capodanno gratitude, to those who financially support us with a donation of $25, $50, $100 or more.
This compelling documentary hosted by Archbishop Philip Hannan, former WWII Army chaplain with the 82nd Airborne Division, features the story of the Maryknoll missioner and Navy Chaplain Fr. Vincent Capodanno, LT, CHC, USNR who valiantly gave up his life during Operation Swift. Special Features include: an interview with Fr. Daniel L. Mode, author of “The Grunt Padre ” – the biographical book that provided the basis for this video production; and interviews Vietnam veterans of the 1st BN 5th and 7th Marines who served with Fr. Capodanno.

 Fr. Vincent Capodanno, LT, CHC, USNR prayer cards help make known this heroic US Navy chaplain and Servant of God. The digital image seen here was created by artist Matt Hall for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and is used with the artists grateful appreciation for the front of the prayer card. The back of the card includes a prayer composed by US Navy chaplain Fr. Daniel Mode, author of the Grunt Padre. These prayer cards are holy reminders of the exemplary value of Fr. Capodanno's life and sacrifice.

Read the compelling biography of Maryknoll missioner and USNR Chaplain Father Vincent R. Capodanno whose life journey lead him from serving as a Maryknoll missionary in Taiwan and Hong Kong to ministering as a battlefield chaplain with the 7th and 5th Marines in Vietnam. In the midst of Operation Swift, on September 4, 1967, Father Capodanno was KIA by enemy fire while providing medical assistance and Last Rites to the wounded and dying. A Purple Heart and MOH recipient, Capodanno was also publically declared a Servant of God during a 2006 Memorial Day Mass at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.

Also introduced is Vincent's older brother, Jim Capodanno, of Staten Island, NY where the Capodanno family resided and where Vincent attended school.
