Worldwide Masses for Fr. Capodanno Campaign

As we begin preparations for the third annual Memorial Mass for Fr. Capodanno this September 2010, exact location and time to be announced, the first step has been to carefully review thoughtful comments and suggestions.  Beginning this year, 2010, CatholicMil seeks to promote a Fr. Capodanno Memorial Mass Campaign.

With your input and CatholicMil's growing outreach, the details of your community's Mass for Fr Capodanno will be promoted here and local attendance strongly encouraged.

In prayerful solidarity, each of these Masses will be offered on the Memorial of LT Fr. Vincent Capodanno's battlefield sacrifice, September 4th, or the evening before, September 3rd.  The goal is to have at least one Mass offered in every state, and in every country where a US military Catholic chaplain is stationed. We especially hope to have a Mass for Fr. Capodanno offered in Gaeta, birth place of Fr. Capodanno's father. We are grateful to the Fort Wadsworth Catholic Community of Staten Island, who have faithfully offered such a Mass every year since the death of Fr. Capodanno, due in large part to the tireless efforts of Mr. James Capodanno (Fr. Capodanno's brother) and his wife, Lydia.

Sponsoring a Memorial Mass for Fr. Capodanno can be as simple as scheduling it today through your local parish secretary and, if offered at a civilian parish, providing a suggested stipend (typically about $10). Or, it can be as elaborate as your parish or chapel community is willing to make it, perhaps with a reception to follow and a free will offering for CatholicMil to further its mission. Those anticipating attendance of 300 or more are encouraged to contact CatholicMil.org in advance to request Fr. Capodanno holy cards and brochures for distribution.

If your parish offers a Mass for Fr. Capodanno this September 3rd or 4th, contact CatholicMil today with details of time and location. We will help promote it and encourage attendance.
