2004 Capodanno Guestbook Robert Orange, Texas 12/17/2004 I'm a former Navy Corpsman who has always been very proud of the work the Hospital Corps has done. This man was better than even the best of us. If anyone ever asks me what "Semper Fi" means, I'll tell them to read this story. Marie N. Hild Lyndhurst, NJ 11/27/2004 Father Vincent was a family friend, and I was also baptized by Father Vincent. I am truly proud to have known him and to know his family. His Sister Pauline was also my sponsor for Confirmation. Scott Hild Lyndhurst, NJ 11/26/2004 Father Capodanno baptized my wife Marie in February, 1964. Family members have always spoke of him through the years but until I recently saw his program on television, I never realized how special he was. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why Marie is so special. Walter K Whitfield White Post, VA 11/22/2004 Just finished reading The Grunt Padre and I am truly humbled. Victoria Zizzo Crescent, Ca 11/18/2004 I have been so impressed by Father Vincent's story. He is one of God's hero's along with our Marine Corp. Al & Anne Zielinski Southampton, PA 10/19/2004 From a Maryknoll prayer card, we knew that Fr. Vince was one of the M.M. martyrs. Henry (Hank)P. Kowalczyk 8/30/2004 Words can't express the admiration felt for men such as Fr. C. Lester Modelowitz Staten Island, New York 8/30/2004 I was online and by accident stumbled on to your website. To me it is amazing because I will be attending a Mass for Father Vincent on Saturday morning. Nick Donofrio Oakhurst, NJ 8/26/2004 Just finished reading "The Grunt Padre". As a former Army "brat" our family was always close with the Catholic chaplains. Many of those "ordinary" chaplains exhibited the same dedication to their troops as Fr. Vincent. He was not only good and holy priest but also a good military officer supporting his men and women. What a shining example of true Christian love. There is no doubt that he is enjoying eternal happiness with Our Lord in heaven whose entire life on earth was one of service to others. Michael S. Rendos Lock Haven, PA 8/10/2004 Just finished reading "The Grunt Padre"- a remarkable account of a truly exceptional man. Certainly, Fr. Capodanno manifested the character of the saints. He is truly an inspiration to all of us Christians. His faith and courage were unquestioned. I hope that someday I can obtain his picture to place on my wall. As an Air Force veteran who served at Ubon and Udorn, Thailand I know what our brave men went through in the jungles of Viet Nam. God Bless them all, "Father Capodanno epitomizes the courage that they all shared so far away from home." Love, Terry Donald J Lewis Redmond, Oregon 8/4/2004 Father Vincent was and is a true follower of Christ Paul G. Stoner Stockton, CA 8/1/2004 I found your website by reading about Reverend Capodanno on the Free Republic FReeper Foxhole at freerepublic.com. I served in the USN in Nam. I was there from 1968 to 1969 on river boats north of DaNang. I'm sure that God was quick to tuck Vincent under his wing in heaven. I'm sure that had he survived he would be like most other hero's, saying it was the others that were the heroes not him. God bless him for what he did, and love he had for "his grunts". He was a far better man than most. Annie Pocono Lake,, PA 7/28/2004 As a native Staten Islander, I knew the story of Fr. Capodanno and remember the news of his death.
